The Local Food In Schools project is one part of the East Sussex Food and Health Partnership, which received funding from the New Opportunities Fund, now called The Big Lottery.

Common Cause has been working with Tertiary Colleges, schools, care homes and hospitals to increase access to healthy, fresh local food, benefiting the people who eat the food as well as the local economy.
There are a number of steps that County Councils and other public sector bodies can take to make it easier for local producers to supply school meals, hospitals and other public contracts.
