Farmers' Markets in Lewes and George St., Hove
Farmers' Markets enable producers to sell direct to consumers, at a fair price for both sides. Common Cause ran a series of three trial markets in Lewes in the autumn of 1998, which were among the first in the UK. We have continued to maintain strict standards and have always given priority to small-scale primary producers with high environmental and animal welfare standards.
The Lewes Farmers' Market takes place on the
first Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm
in Cliffe pedestrian precinct.
Following the success of the Lewes Market, Common Cause was asked by Brighton and Hove City Council to start a new Farmers' Market in George Street, Hove. This market began with a six month trial in 2005 and has recently been expanded into the new Gorgeous George Street Artisans' Market, taking place on the last Saturday every month throughout the summer.
